- In the menu ribbon click Metrics
- Click on the Metrics tab (the active tab will be highlighted in green)
- Click the plus + sign on the right hand side
- In the pop-up:
- Give your metric a name
- Enter a description of your metric, if you need further detail
- Set the frequency - if daily, the check the day settings at the bottom of the popup to state which days of the week will need reporting on (click on a day to deselect it, every day is selected by default).
Note: Once data has been entered for a metric, you cannot change its frequency - Choose a format (number, percentage or currency)
- Choose a target
- Choose if the metric should go up or down (the Best Direction dropdown)
- Choose if you want the metric to be an average across the data, or if you want it to show the actual figures (sum total). This will have an impact when you add metrics as a widget to dashboards
- Set the RAG thresholds (Red, Amber and Green). Should you add the metric to your dashboard as a gauge, this will form the basis of the colour coding
- Assign a User - if you are the only person if your organisation it will default to you. If there is more than one person in the organisation then you must choose a user to assign the metric to. They will receive a notification that a metric has been assigned to them
- Give your metric a name
- Click Save
- Your metric is now created
